Our first exercise with Maya was to make bouncing balls. We looked at the 12 principles of animation mainly starting with arcs, slow in and slow out, squash and stretch, timing and exaggeration. We had to choose 3 ball types and apply physics to them depending on what ball type they are. In our group we picked a very heavy ball (like a bowling ball), a tennis ball and a bouncier ball than that (a bouncy ball or rubber ball). I gathered that the main point of this exercise was to get a feel for Maya and how physics should be applied to objects and to help us start to learn the 12 principles of animation.
